The Bixie Effect: Modern, Feminine and Incredibly Chic
Short hair is officially having its moment and one style in particular is dominating the scene…the bixie cut. Equal parts model-off-duty and effortlessly feminine, it sits perfectly between a bob and a pixie. Think soft structure, textured layers, wispy bangs and natural movement.
It’s the kind of haircut that looks undone in the best way. Chic without even trying. Whether you’re thinking of taking the plunge or already loving your bixie, styling is what really brings this look to life. It’s all about volume, movement and embracing that perfectly imperfect finish.

The Curly Bixie: Embracing Ultimate Texture
If you have natural curls or waves, the bixie is the perfect cut to let your texture shine. Those layers are designed to create movement, giving curls bounce, shape and that effortless, lived-in feel.
Start by working with your natural texture. After washing, apply your favourite curl cream and gently scrunch the hair upwards as it dries. This encourages curl formation while enhancing volume through the layers. Once dry, go in with the Wax Stick to define and separate. Lightly work it through the ends and around the face to enhance individual curls and add that soft, piecey texture.
If your hair is naturally straighter, don’t worry! You can still rock a curly bixie. Use the Spin or Style Wand to create curls by grabbing small sections and wrapping them around the barrel in alternating directions. Alternatively, you can use the smaller attachment on the Interchangeable Blow Dry Brush and twist sections to form soft, natural looking curls. Allow the curls to set by cooling completely, then lightly break them up with your fingers using the wax stick for an undone and textured finish.

The Smooth Bixie: Sleek with Subtle Texture
For a more polished take, the smooth bixie is all about controlled volume and clean lines while still maintaining that modern, textured feel.
Start with the Interchangeable Blow Dry Brush to dry and style in one. Focus on creating lift at the roots while smoothing through the lengths. Use the attachments to gently curve the ends under or flick them out slightly, depending on the look you’re going for. The goal is soft movement, not stiffness.
Once your hair is dry, take the Wax Stick and lightly smooth over the top to tame flyaways and refine the shape. Then, work a small amount through the layers to add separation and subtle texture, keeping the look from feeling too “done”.
Think sleek, but never flat.
Short, statement-making and effortlessly chic. Consider this your sign to go shorter.
